Consumers Cooperative Society is a farmer owned grain handling facility. Corn and soybean storage is available and we also handle direct ship grain merchandising. Located in Johnson county in southeast Iowa, Consumers Cooperative Society trucks grain to Mississippi river terminals and grain processing facilities in Cedar Rapids, IA. The home office and elevator for Consumers Cooperative Society is actually located within the city limits of Coralville, IA and has easy access to Interstate highways I-80 and I-380 which provides efficient and convenient transportation avenues to regional grain marketing.
August 1, 2007 Consumers Cooperative Society purchased another grain elevator at Frytown, Iowa. Frytown is located southwest of Iowa City and has a storage capacity of approximately 1.75 million bushels. The Board of Directors and Employees of Consumers Cooperative Society look forward to the opportunities presented with this additional facility.
Consumers Cooperative Society also has ample semi and straight trucking available to move grain from farm to market. We also have a grain vac and augers available to enable the loading of grain from storage or field onto any of our trucks. We constantly monitor the trading activity on the Chicago Board of Trade and receive up to the minute quotes from area markets. This market awareness along with futures contract hedging, and option purchasing allows us to competitively bid for grain in and around Johnson County. Consumers Cooperative Society also offers fixed forward, minimum price and deferred payment contracting.
